Cicero Martelli is a Professor in the Department of Electronics at the Federal University of Technology – Paraná (UTFPR), where he leads research and teaching in photonics and sensing. He earned his PhD in Engineering from the University of Sydney and has developed an extensive career collaborating with the oil, energy, and transportation sectors. An active entrepreneur, he has also founded four startups focused on photonic technologies. With over 200 publications and eight patents, his work has been recognized by prestigious awards, including the IEEE-LEOS Graduate Student Fellowship and the Petrobras Inventor Award. He currently serves as the General Co-Chair for the IEEE Sensors 2028 Conference.
